What’s scarier than ghouls and goblins, witches and wizards, or zombies and mummies? The buckets of sugary candy that trick-or-treaters bring home every Halloween.
This year, show your kids that the holiday isn’t all about candy. Get in the spooky spirit with a festive spin on the classic peanut butter-celery snack: spiders on a log! Little ones can even test their artistic skills by helping pipe the chocolate spiders onto the almond butter.
5 celery stalks
½ cup almond butter or peanut butter
½ cup dark chocolate chips, divided
Cut celery stalks into 4-inch “logs” and spread them with almond butter. Press a few chocolate chips into the almond butter until they stick to create the body of your spiders.
Melt more chocolate chips in a double boiler or heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water. Transfer melted chocolate to a sandwich-sized ziplock bag, then cut a small hole in one of the corners. Pipe melted chocolate onto chocolate chips to give your spiders legs. Serve immediately. Happy Halloween!
